Seekt Quick Guide: Sharing Hunts

Welcome to the Seekt Quick Guide series. In this episode, we are looking at how to share a hunt with another Seekt user — so they can run it on their own device with their own group.

Sharing works through a simple link. On the hunt detail screen, tap "Share Hunt." Seekt generates a share link and opens the standard share sheet. You can send it via iMessage, email, AirDrop, or any other method you normally use to share links.

When the recipient opens the link, Seekt shows a preview of the hunt — the name, description, and number of items. They tap "Import Hunt" and the entire hunt is copied into their library. That means all items, clues, point values, hints, answer modes, game zone, reference photos, and every other setting you configured. It all comes across.

The imported hunt is a fully independent copy. The recipient can edit it however they like — change clues, adjust points, add or remove items, modify the game zone. None of those changes affect your original. And if you update your hunt later, their copy is not changed either. It is a clean handoff.

The imported hunt appears in their My Hunts list with "Imported" after the name, so it is easy to tell apart from hunts they created themselves. They can rename it at any time.

Share links expire after seven days. If someone tries to open an expired link, they will see a message explaining that it is no longer available. You can generate a new share link at any time — and there is no limit on how many times you can share a hunt.

This feature is useful in several situations. A team-building facilitator can design a hunt once and share it with managers at different office locations. A teacher can share a campus hunt with colleagues in other departments. Event organisers can collaborate by sharing a base hunt and letting each person customise it for their group. A family member can share a birthday party hunt template so someone else can host next year.

Because the import creates a completely separate copy, each person can run their own games from it independently. Their games, teams, scores, and submissions are entirely their own.
